Having a "New Year's Resolution" is a common practice among Americans and is usually focused on the physical self. For example. "I am going to lose weight!" or "I am going to stop drinking caffeine!" Instead of sharing our resolutions about the physical betterment of ourselves let share what we hope to see God do this year: in ourselves, in our church, in our families, in our communities, and in our world. You don't have to share all of them. I'm just trying to give you some ideas. In other words I'm asking you to share your prayer requests for 2008 so that we can lift them up together and look forward to see God work in us and those around us.
"And I tell you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. What father among you, if his son asks for a fish, will instead of a fish give him a serpent;"
Luke 11:9-11
